Cogeneration

Cogeneration systems draw both electric power and heat from the generator set – in effect, putting the same fuel to use twice. Cogeneration systems can have very high efficiencies – over 80% of the fuel’s energy can be put to use, resulting in lower energy costs and lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared with separate heat and electric services.

Sometimes called Combined Heat and Power or CHP, cogeneration systems can provide hot water, steam, or chilling for central air conditioning in addition to reliable electric power. Cogeneration systems can operate in parallel with or separate from the utility grid. Diesel engines, gas turbines and natural gas engines have been used effectively for cogeneration on large and small scales. Marson Energy has experience with each of these technologies, and also produces a line of custom-built packaged cogeneration products using clean-burning natural gas engine-generators. Marson Energy offers complete systems in portable containers, which reduce setup time and cost on site.

Many state and local governments now offer incentive programs which support cogeneration through project rebates or even low-cost financing.

Marson energy can provide turnkey cogeneration systems for commercial or industrial applications. Services include initial energy studies, engineering and design, installation, and plant operation services. Marson Energy can also provide permitting services and emission control and monitoring systems if required.

Marson Energy can assist in acquiring financing for a cogeneration project or can provide financing sources for projects we develop. A variety of financing options can allow creditworthy entities to enjoy the benenfits of cogeneration without direct capital investment.
